The following information about available aged care services, serves as a guide to help you arrange aged care or respite care for elderly residents in Melbourne.
If you, the primary carer, need to attend a wedding, unplanned emergency or simply need to go on holiday, your loved one can have their needs taken care of at an aged care residence. Residents will have access to round the clock care during their stay at one of our quality aged care facilities.
In order to be eligible for aged care respite, the care recipient will need to get an assessment done through an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). They will discuss the options available to the care recipient as well as their eligibility for residential aged care respite services. A care recipient is ordinarily eligible for 63 residential respite care days in a financial year.
Caring for someone with Dementia can pose additional challenges for aged care providers. If your loved one suffers from Alzheimer’s, Dementia or other memory loss, they may require additional skilled nursing care. Dementia or Memory Care is offered in secure Dementia care units within the residence, where the resident is comfortable with their surroundings and environment. Staff undergo regular training for caring for Dementia patients, including Dementia Care management that allows them to offer a caring and supportive environment specific to the needs of the resident.
Samkay Health offers respite care and memory support for our elderly community at our Greensborough residence, situated close to Mill Park, Bundoora and Epping. To learn more about our different aged care and respite care options, contact us today.
Residents moving into Grace Villa can choose to pay a fully Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), non-refundable Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or a combination of both, in addition to their Daily Care Fees.
This fee is charged to cover the standard living costs of a resident in an aged care residence. The daily care fees is calculated as 85% of the single person rate of the basic Aged Pension. A resident is charged a daily care fee, which is reviewed by the Department of Health twice a year. This amount also applies to all respite residents. The Director of Nursing will explain these charges to you or your family at the time of accepting a place at a Samkay Health residence.
